Suspect arrested following an unprovoked attack on man in San Francisco

San Francisco, California – Police in San Francisco apprehended a 37-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting an elderly man in the Sunset District on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at 7 p.m. in the area of 9th Avenue and Irving Street. According to police, the attack was unprovoked.

Witnesses reported the suspect appeared to be experiencing a mental breakdown.

When the suspect attempted to flee after the attack, two witnesses tackled him and held him until authorities arrived, according to police.

According to authorities, the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect’s charges are still pending, according to officials.
