Son taken into custody after fatally stabbing his mother

Walnut Creek, California – Authorities in Walnut Creek have arrested a man suspected for stabbing his mother to death in the morning hours.

The woman called 911 around 5 a.m. saying she was stabbed by her son and was asking for help.

First responders arrived in the 2600 block of Jones Road and transported the woman to a hospital for treatment.

The victim identified as the 74-year-old Darlene Roth succumbed to her injuries at the hospital shortly after.

The victim’s son, the 41-year-old Nicholas Roth, was subsequently taken into custody.

No additional information was released.
