One injured and one arrested following a shooting at Vacaville Fiesta Days

Vacaville, California – The Vacaville Fiesta Days event on Sunday had to be canceled due to a gunshot, according to the police.

The incident took place at approximately 7:44 p.m. while people were having fun at the event at Andrews Park. The police reported hearing gunshots and upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a man who had been wounded in the leg.

The suspect ran away, but a police officer who wasn’t on duty but was at the event helped arrest him shortly after.

The victim was an 18-year-old resident of Fairfield, and was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The 18-year-old suspect from Suisun City was charged with probation violation and assault with a deadly weapon.

During the course of the incident, the police released a statement advising the public to stay away from the area and to look for other meeting places outside of the park for family and friends.

According to the representatives of the event, the celebration will continue Monday as scheduled.
