Emergency Preparedness Fair in Concord to offer vital safety tips and freebies on September 5
Concord, California – With natural disasters a growing concern, the City of Concord is inviting residents to become better prepared by attending its Emergency Preparedness Fair. The event is set to take place at Todos Santos Plaza on Thursday, September 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This important community event is meant to inform and empower residents with the tools and information they need to manage crises including earthquakes. The event will provide participants an opportunity to interact with different emergency service providers, all of which provide freebies and vital information meant to improve community safety.
The Preparedness Fair will overlap with the popular Music and Market concert series in an interesting mix of teaching and pleasure. Starting at 4 p.m., attendees will be enjoying the fresh food from the farmers’ market; then, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., The Big Jangle, a Tom Petty Tribute Band, will perform live.
Key local and county emergency response teams including the Concord Police Department, Contra Costa Fire & HAZMAT, and the Community Warning System will be present. Among other noteworthy partners are Bill’s Ace Hardware, Animal Services, the American Red Cross, and Contra Costa County Aging and Adult Services.
The fair will also have instructional booths like Dangers of Vaping, materials from Independent Living Resources, Mobility Matters, VistAbility, Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control, East Bay CPR. These booths seek to give residents thorough safety knowledge and useful skills to enable their management during a crisis.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free event to better prepare themselves for emergencies. Concord’s Preparedness Fair looks to be both educational and fun for everyone who visits with the combined attractiveness of music, market, and basic emergency readiness tools.
