Axe-wielding woman threatening vehicles at Concord intersection tased by police
Concord, California – A woman who was posing a danger to the public after swinging an axe at vehicles near Hillcrest Community Park in a busy Concord intersection was tased by officers.
Concord police responded to the area of Olivera Road and Grant Street around 11 a.m. after receiving numerous reports of a woman swinging an axe at vehicles.
Upon arrival, responding officers saw the woman standing in the middle of the intersection with an axe and witnessed the moment she hit a car with occupants inside.
Authorities shut down highways in order to protect the general public and tased the woman after she refused to obey officers’ orders to drop the axe she was swinging with. She was arrested without injuries. No other people were injured in this incident.
The identity of the woman was not published. She was taken into custody at the Contra Costa County Jail on suspicion of several crimes.
