Suspect arrested in connection with SF fatal stabbing

San Francisco, California – Authorities announced that a 28-year-old San Francisco resident has been taken into custody in connection with the murder of a man in the 500 block of Potrero Avenue on January 31.

The 28-year-old, Eugenio Corleto, was brought into San Francisco County Jail on murder charges after being arrested in Hayward on Friday.

Officers from Mission Station responded to a report of a stabbing in the Potrero Hill area on January 31 at around 12:22 a.m., according to investigators.

A 27-year-old man with an apparent stab wound was found by responding officers when they got on the scene. While waiting for the medical services to arrive, officers immediately gave first aid to the victim. Upon the arrival of the medics, they transported the victim to a hospital for further treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Homicide investigators gathered evidence from the crime scene that pointed to Corleto as the primary suspect. Police tracked him down and arrested him without any incident.
