One man fatally shot in Christmas Eve shooting

East Palo Alto, California – Police found a 22-year-old East Palo Alto man with fatal gunshot wounds in a vehicle after a Christmas Eve traffic crash.

Officers responded to a Shotspotter activation in the 900 block of Beech St. around 11:33 p.m., according to East Palo Alto police.

Upon the arrival of the officers at the scene, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had crashed into the front porch of a residence.

Officers suspected the crashed car was connected in the nearby gunshots and noticed the driver, a 22-year-old Hispanic man from East Palo Alto, was unconscious and possibly wounded.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he died from his injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released until his next of kin are notified.
