Martinez hosts annual TRUTH Act Forum on immigration enforcement scheduled for July 23
Martinez, California – Aiming to address civil immigration enforcement operations within Contra Costa County, the TRUTH Act Community Forum has been scheduled for July 23, 2024. The forum starts during the normal Board of Supervisors meeting at 10 a.m. Key to the community’s attempts to promote openness, this discussion will take place in the administrative offices of the county.
Since 2017, the annual forum has been a platform for reviewing local immigration enforcement activities and interactions between county law enforcement and the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE). This initiative is part of California’s State Assembly Bill 2792, known as the Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds (TRUTH) Act. The law is meant to improve responsibility and openness between federal and local law enforcement departments.
District 5 Supervisor and Board Chair, Federal Glover, emphasized the significance of the forum.

“The TRUTH Act forum in one way we can support our immigrant communities to ensure they feel safe and empowered,” stated Board Chair, District 5 Supervisor Federal Glover. “This forum allows residents to engage the County regarding the extent of access provided to ICE in its law enforcement activities, which is vital for transparency and accountability.”
The Board meeting will also cover the Sheriff’s Oversight Report for the quarter ending June 30, 2024, giving locals a chance to remain updated on most current law enforcement operations and supervision.
Spanish language interpretation services will be provided to guarantee that every member of the community may attend; the meeting will also be closed-captioned in real-time. Residents are encouraged to view the forum via many outlets: local CCTV channels—AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, Comcast Channel 27, or WAVE Channel 32; online at http://www.contracosta.ca.gov/.
Comments or questions about the TRUTH Act or the forum may also be sent by community members by letter to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at 1025 Escobar St, 1st Floor, Martinez, CA, 94553.
