Fatal single-vehicle collision on Highway 242 in Concord prompts CHP investigation

Concord, California – In the early hours of Sunday, a fatal single-vehicle collision occurred on state Highway 242 in Concord, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.

The unfortunate incident was reported at approximately 1:54 a.m. The location of the incident was on the southbound side of Highway 242, near the off-ramp leading to Concord Avenue.

A blue Nissan Sentra was involved in the accident, in which it collided with the guardrail of the off-ramp. This impact led to the ejection of the right front passenger from the vehicle.

Emergency services were prompt at the scene. The ejected passenger, who suffered severe injuries, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, the driver of the Nissan was declared deceased at the scene, as stated by CHP officials.

The identity of the deceased driver is yet to be made public by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
