California residents pay most expensive average gas prices in U.S.
San Francisco, California – California, Washington, Nevada, Oregon, and Hawaii are the only states in the United States with average gas prices of more than $4 per gallon.
According to AAA, California residents are paying $4.86 per gallon, the cost of gas in Nevada and Oregon is $4.06 per gallon, in Washington it is $4.08 per gallon, and people in Hawaii are paying $4.60 per gallon.
The state of Texas has the cheapest gas in the US, with an average price of $3.26 a gallon.
A bit closer to home, the average price of gas in Contra Costa County is $4.89 a gallon. The most expensive gas in California is found in Mono County, where a gallon costs $5.65, while the cheapest gas is available in Modoc County, where a gallon costs roughly $4.45.
