California among the states with highest average gas prices per gallon

Contra Costa County, California – Only California and Hawaii have average petrol prices above $4 per gallon in the United States.

According to AAA, the price in California is $4.44 per gallon and in Hawaii it stands at $4.13 per gallon.

Texas has the cheapest petrol in the US, with an average price of $2.91 a gallon.

In California, the average price for gallon in Contra Costa County is $4.52, people in Mono County are paying the most expensive gas, at $5.35 per gallon and the cheapest gas can be found in Yuba County for $4.19 per gallon.
