BART closed Orinda Station after person died on the trackway
Orinda, California – An unfortunate incident that occurred at the Orinda Station on Monday afternoon forced BART to close operations at the station.
A Bart spokesperson said first responders have been called to the scene because someone has fallen on the tracks.
Due to the incident, BART was forced to remove a train from service and reduce the number of tracks in both directions at the Orinda Station. The station was closed until 4:50 p.m.
According to the BART agency, the incident caused a 10 minute delay in the Antioch line in both the Antioch and SFO directions.
People traveling were recommended to take Contra Costa Transit #6. Travelers were also told they would not have to worry about additional costs as BART tickets would be accepted on the bus.
BART officials later confirmed that the person who had fallen into the trackway had died. There is no suspicion of foul play.
