15-year-old cited after making criminal threats at multiple high schools

Mountain View, California – Mountain View police said a 15-year-old teenager was cited for allegedly making bomb threats at high schools in three South Bay cities last month.

According to authorities, the teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, made a bomb threat at Los Altos High School in Los Altos on Oct. 1, then made threats at St. Francis High School in Mountain View and Presentation High School in San Jose on Oct. 5.

The threats caused disruption in the schools, but no one was harmed. However, because all three calls were identical, detectives in the three cities collaborated and were able to identify the 15-year-old as the suspect, according to police.

According to police, investigators spoke with the adolescent and his family on Wednesday, and he was cited on suspicion of making criminal threats and submitting a fake bomb threat, before being returned to his parents’ custody.
